Walden

Mr. George—one of Pennsylvania’s finest theatre artists,
recipient of the coveted Fringe First Award for outstanding new works at the
Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Scotland, awarded the 1995 Pennsylvania Solo
Theatre Artist Fellowship, Founder of Touchstone Theatre, and internationally
touring movement-theatre artist—has created this exquisite adaptation of Henry
David Thoreau’s classic
Walden to tour to
colleges, high schools, and theatre-art venues.
The ninety-minute performance, now available for touring, features
Thoreau’s text mounted in a frame of gestural simplicity and direct address.
It is a story of an innocent soul, troubled by his times, who retreats to
the woods to understand the full meaning of life.
While there he has many adventures and is adopted by the “spirits” of
Nature, but learning through his encounter with a loon of the ultimate
frustration yet joy of his quest, he returns to society with a deeper wisdom and
strength.
Single performances: $1200
A high school, 45-minute adaptation is available
for $600 for a single performance
Accompanying workshops in the actor as creator,
pantomime, voice, and acting are available.
Significant discounts for multiple bookings or
residencies.
